Training Objective– The Business English module of TEFL based curriculum will help the trainees acquire awareness on the importance of language in order to communicate effectively. They will enhance their fluency in written and spoken language by practicing the 4 skills of the English language.
Learning Objectives–
- To understand the basics of communication
- To understand the word classes and the sentence elements
- To practice the receptive skills of listening and reading before producing the language either by writing or speaking
- To understand the role of context in interpreting and constructing messages.
Methodology: The trainer will also use the internationally acclaimed TEFL methodology to impart English language skills. Teaching English as a Foreign language is an extensively researched methodology to teach the language. Multi nationals like Microsoft, IBM, Accenture, Dell….and language schools in foreign countries seek the certification in TESOL for their language trainers. It’s a breakaway from the conventional methods of translation and grammar to the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT).
The Grammar is taught inductively using the receptive skills i.e. listening & Reading and then producing the language through the written and spoken endeavors. While practicing the 4 skills the focus will be using the correct language.

This will improve the grammatical concepts of the trainees by involving them mentally & physically in the learning process.
- Lesson plans {receptive skills (Listening & Reading) leading to Speaking exercises}
A typical TESOL, TEFL or ESOL lesson plan begins with a warmer where the first effort of the teacher is to lower down the affective filters of the trainees.
A context is set before the topic is announced which is the first step to the task of the day. When the trainees elicit the context themselves they are more responsive
After this a listening/ reading exercise pertaining to the topic of the day is taken up and questions are based on them. These question are based from a specific point of enabling the students and not intimidating them. Henceforth the activity is preceded by a non-linguistic activity, followed by the task based on the listening or reading passage.
This is L/R activity is then followed by a writing or a spoken exercise.
At the same time the language focus is also taken up soon after.
We can cover topics like:
- Basic telephone greeting
- Writing effective Emails
- Introductions at the workplace
- Writing leave applications

While the students are practicing all the 4 skills of L/R/W/S, they are simultaneously learning the correct language. At the end of every lesson plan the trainees will practice the grammatical aspect of the lesson plan.
